Quick update to let you know what's been going on in the studio. First up we have just completed and had accepted a remix for Lucky Break label from Germany of DJ Mutiny's "Tell You Something", as soon as we can put up audio and a release date we will do.

Also just finished is a remix of Freerange DJ's "Drop That Beat" for the mighty APE- to listen to the original check this link. Or check their myspace for more! This crew are blowin up fast and we're well happy to be involved!

So, all the "Total Recall" remixes are in and getting mastered (Schema & Eschericks), soon as the artwork is finalized it will be scheduled and released on Rocstar. To grab a listen check out Soundcloud.com a quick search will get you where you want to be!

On the remix front we have just completed one for German label Lucky Break of Dj Mutiny's "Tell You Something", one we are really happy with, and from the reactions we have been getting seems other dj's feel the same. Further release details when i have em!

Just started a remix for the guys down @ APE (Ben & Lex) of their new signings FREERANGE DJ's, we should be done within the next few weeks, again watch this space!

Other studio stuff see's us collaborating with Schema & MARS, both tracks started, just a few more sessions and we should be there! The MARS collab should be getting scheduled for release on Rocstar along with our track 5yrs 10yrs, nothings set in stone yet but thats the route most likely!!

On the dj'in front, we've just got back from Spain, massive shouts to all the Radik-Al crew! We're over in Bath next week with the APE guys, then back to Spain, and a sneaky appearance at the the Big Beat Reunion in Brighton. As always you can book us for your party via elke@rocstar.com

Hopefully by now you have heard Afghan Headspin - Clump Tropicana & the Ben & Lex remix (BUY IY HERE) its available Worldwide on vinyl, and the digital will follow shortly. Following this are the Cocaine Remixes, Gella has come with....not one, but two, huge remixes of Afghan Headspins monster - Cocaine. Due out on vinyl worldwide early December, no need to search high and low for the perfect Xmas gift, its in the bag!

As for new tracks, due out on promo any time now is Shut Up & Dance v's Afghan Headspin - Suicide, backed with a huge remix by new production outfit PIXEL FIST. Been hard at it in the studio, first out the doors will be a collab we have done with Cut La Roc, just putting the finishing touches to it, working title "Got to get some!", everyone's really pleased with the results and this should go off on the floor. There is a cheeky bootleg also doing the rounds we are guilty of producing, we started our Glastonbury & Glade sets with it, and going by feedback, looks like many other dj's will be dropping it this Summer, not sure on a release, or whether we will give it away online, court is still out on that one. As for new original material, 5 yrs 10 yrs is getting a final going over, and then we hope to have a very special remix done, watch this space!

Mad mad busy it seems these days, studio work seems never ending, remix this, remix that, and now we've progressed onto collaborations! Namely Afghan Headspin v's Shut Up & Dance and also v's Cut La Roc, both pretty much done and dusted, and hopefully getting scheduled in the next few weeks / months.

We're also finishing off a remix of Shut Up & Dance's track CREAM, another session this Sunday and we should be done! We've uploaded a few new bits onto the myspace player, a new original track called "Beef Disco" for charity album "It's Good For The Soul", so give that all your support because the proceeds won't get spent on beer and sneakers, but people in genuine need of your money!

On the gig front we just got booked for Glastonbury, playing in the Pussy Parlour on the Thursday, the set being recorded live for later transmission on Annie Nightingales Radio 1 show! RESULT!

I'm gonna try and start doing a video blog, but until i get used to seeing myself looking a bit weird on the screen you'll have to do with this worded blog. Come back soon..... we need you!

So, where to start, things get crazier round here by the day! We've just finished a remix for APE of Lightshapers "On The Rocks", we're really happy with it, word is the original is now getting a vocal added, maybe we'll update our remix, maybe we won't, we shall see! We've also finished a remix for Cut La Roc's label Rocstar, of a track (name escapes me) by Playfellows, should be out this side of Summer. Masters have also been submitted for VALIUM003, 004 & 005! I'll do a proper update nearer the time of release, but lets just say we're really happy with the next 3 releases and hope it puts Valium on the radar a little.

We are about to start work on a collab with Cut La Roc for his forthcoming album, and also an original Afghan Headspin tune for a very special kids Cancer charity, i won't say anymore about that bar the fact there are many artists involved in this album and its got classic written all over it, and all in a great cause!

We have also agreed to take on Rennie Pilgrims track Eraser for remixing, we can't wait to get our grubby mits on the samples and do it proud, soon as Rennie is back from the Winter Festival (Seville) we should be under starters orders.

Afghan Headspin's take on 2008!

What a year for us, after a lot of time in the studio 2008 was very prolific for us release wise. We have forged bonds with many labels this year, Westway, Bombtraxx, Silo, Mechanoise, Audio Gore, Polar Red, Downbeat & Tortured Breaks, and we have also completed material for 2009 for Colony Productions & Bassrock.

We also started our labels Valium (vinyl & digital) & Standard Audio (digital only), and have managed to work with some of our favourite artists within the breaks scene, Vent, IITone, Phat Riderz, MARS, Xim n'bass and Slim Blue to name a few!

This year has also seen us play our DJ sets in Spain, Bristol, London and Jersey, and bookings for 2009 are already taking shape, most notably our booking for the next Breakspoll @ Fabric.

Sorry we haven't been about for a while, snowed under by the weight of it getting dark early, and there not being enough hours in the day let alone week!

We've been mad busy, what with the release of Valium001 & 002, and both releases still going strong, and also Cocaine which has just got a life of its own as far as crossing genres goes, massive shout to everyone whose supported it.

Onto news that may be of interest, we have been working with Cut La Roc (Roc Star/ Skint) and done a remix of his track Hypertension, forthcoming on Westway, not sure if of when it will see the light of day, but you can definately catch us dropping it out and about on the road. There is talk of us doing further work for Cut La Roc on Roc Star so keep em peeled for more news about that.

Our remix of Cybass' Shake It has just dropped on Silo, grab it on vinyl whilst you can, digital to follow shortly. Rumour has it that our remix of Dilemn's Tonight is not far off from release either, grab it at your local store soon.

We are also currently working on an original track for Bass Rock, called "Bad Selection", finishing it off in the next week, mixdowns and final touches stage! We will follow with a remix of a Jinx track too, again more details to follow.

And finally we are starting out work on our 2nd album, so we will probably go quiet for a while, but we will be back!

Afghan Headspin Release Update Sept 2008

We have 2 remixes that have been sitting in the wings, but are now very close to getting released, first up is a remix of Mobius - Thugz, forthcoming on APE and also, Spanish label Audio Gore will be releasing our remix of Stormtrooperz - Spirits. The APE remix has a nod towards the early 90's, think Primal Scream / Stone Roses, and the Audio Gore release is a pure, balls out amen smasher! Don't forget our remix of Dilemn's Daylight will be getting mastered shortly too!

We also have just recieved back from Vent, a mastered version of our remix of their track Warez 3.5.1, this will be coming out via Colony Productions, run by Vents Sam Ashwell & Dave Tipper.

More remix news... does it ever end? We are about to go in the studio to take on 2 projects, one for Jodi from Mechanoise and also one for a crew from Spain, we will announce further info when we have them completed, could be a few weeks / months yet!

We are also starting a new original track called "Eat Dirt & Do One", which will be a re-working of an old Resonant Evil drum & bass track you may have heard of called "Troubleshoot", and we hope this to come out on Valium in the near future. Talking of Valium, we have also comissioned remixes of the next release - Vent - Go Gorilla / Turn The Page, from 4Kuba & Mars respectively, can't wait to get that project underway!

AFGHAN HEADSPIN “M.S.G” :

Mechanoise is especially excited about the first release from the Aghan Headspin boys. Having bonded with them at gigs in spain last summer it was clear that they had the kind of attitude to breaks and life in general that was very close to the Mechanoise vibe.

M.S.G has the brute force and attitude that makes it sound at home on the daddy of heavy breaks labels.

“War of the Worlds” samples intoduce a wall of noise which evokes thoughts of Tipper or Si Begg at their nastiest before the bassline drops with beats and catchy lead riff and ethereal vocal lines. Full of tight edits and heavy on the bass this one screams Mechanoise in your face before running off down the pub to get pissed and start a fight with anyone that looks at it’s pint funny.

COTE “BRUTALITY”:

On the flip comes a first release on Mechanoise from up and coming Spanish producer CoTe. Proving once again that the Spaniards really have upped the game as far as production of heavy breaks sounds, CoTe unleashes an intense array of beats and bass tightly produced and carefully edited for those who like their beats heavy as the come. Robotic voices and unwordly synths give this track mood and character above and beyond the average heavy breaks track!
